Ramazzotti is an Italian-born singer who's found success on the Latin pop circuit. In the early '90s his albums were going platinum across Europe, and they were being translated into Spanish for that market. BMG International took notice of his crossover appeal and signed Ramazzotti. Ramazzotti first appeared on the Latin Pop charts in 1994 with Todos Historias, but it wasn't until 1997's Eros that he really established himself. Stylistically he veers between pop-friendly balladry and a more rock-oriented style.

When she was just 18, this young singing sensation wowed audiences at the
Italian Song Festival. She ended up winning the audience award, and her
career was born. Like many Italian artists, Pausini records in both Italian
and Spanish so she can reach the vast Latin American market. The strategy
has paid off: Phil Collins has written songs for her, she won a Lo Nuestro
award as Most Promising Latin Artist, and she was nominated for four Latin
Grammy awards in 2001.

Despite their gruesome name, these Spanish pop-rockers don't seem to have too many morbid interests -- and their music won't chop your ear off. Formed by a bunch of university friends, the group used to play covers of alternative bands for fun until singer Amaia Montero joined. The addition of her dulcet voice galvanized the group to record a demo, and three albums later (in 2003) they began climbing Latin pop charts with the song "Puedes Cantar Conmigo." The group became a fixture on the charts for several years, but in 2008, Montero decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career; Leire Martinez, former leader of Factor X, took over singing duties the same year.

Most aspiring musicians would do anything for just one shot at the big time. Robyn's had at least four. The Swedish singer got her first break in 1995 when she was still a teenager, landing a record contract and debut album that topped the charts in her native country when she was just 16. By 1996, she could add international smash single to her credits after the dance-pop tune "Do You Know (What It Takes)" made the Top 10 in the U.S. When the relationship with her American label turned sour, she regrouped with the Swedish-only release Don't Stop the Music in 2002. More label disputes ensued, so Robyn took yet another tack, collaborating with Swedish experimental synth-pop outfit the Knife. Guess what? Her label didn't like that either. Still, the cat-like Robyn bounced back with life number four, forming her own label (Konichiwa) in 2005 and releasing her self-titled fourth album. With Robyn, the dedicated pop star finally got her due, a decade after she started, in the form of multiple Swedish Grammies, several international hit singles and the respect of the U.S. music press (even before the album was released stateside in 2008).

Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, September (real name Petra Marklund) is the dance-pop singer behind hits like "Cry for You" and "Until I Die." A precocious talent, Marklund got her start in the industry early. At only 12 years old she was already recording in studios; at 18 she released her first single, "La La La (Never Give It Up)," which made it to No. 8 in Sweden's pop charts. Working alongside the songwriting and production trio of Jonas von der Burg, Niclas von der Burg and Anoo Bhagavan, September went on to release multiple singles and three albums between 2004 and 2007. A frequent visitor to various European pop charts, she represented her home country in 2007's Sopot International Song Festival, against artists like Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Thierry Amiel.

Born to a musical family in Cotes d'Armor, France, Yelle started playing music from an early age and began recording her own tunes and taking piano lessons as a teen. She met producer and beatmaker GrandMarnier in 2000 and eventually used some of his sample tracks to back her half-sung, half-spoken French Euro pop. Her first public performance came in the fall of 2006 and her debut full-length LP, Pop Up was accompanied by a healthy internet buzz when it appeared in 2007.

This young Italian from the outskirts of Rome went to college for engineering and communications but he was clearly just biding his time until a record deal showed up. After two years of grooming by industry executives and EMI, Ferro released 2001's Rosso Relativo in Italy to huge success. Two years later the album was repackaged (and re-recorded in Spanish) and released to the lucrative Latin American market as Rojo Relativo. "Alucinado" was a huge hit, and 111 Ciento Once was released in 2004, spawing the hit "Tardes Negras."

A lion of Spanish rock 'n' roll, Joaquin Sabina has been called the Bob Dylan of the Spanish-speaking world. Outspoken, gruff-voiced and a relentless maverick, Sabina first started penning poetry in the 1960s, but it wasn't until he fled Franco's dictatorship and ended up in 1975 London that Sabina turned his lyricism towards songwriting. Soon he was gigging around the city (when he wasn't hanging out in his squatter's community), where he performed in front of George Harrison for the ex-Beatle's birthday. When Franco's dictatorship ended in 1977, Sabina returned to Spain and released 1978's Inventario. The single "Pongamos Que Hablo De Madrid" (off 1980's Malas Companias) shot to No. 1 in the Spanish charts, and Sabina's fate was effectively sealed. He provided the voice for more than a generation of Spaniards recovering from decades of repression, and integrated rock 'n' roll's growing global influence in a way that helped Spanish music find its feet in the modern world. In 2001 the singer suffered from a stroke, but he was back on his feet in record time, writing and recording 2002's Dimelo En La Calle.

Bisbal got his start on the Spanish television show Operacion Triunfo, where he trained with sixteen other contestants in singing and performance. He was one of the winners in the first series, and the stage was set for his singing career. He was an immediate hit in Spain and he won over the greater Spanish-speaking world in 2003 when he won the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, thanks in no small part to production by hit producer Kike Santander. The hit record Buleria followed a year later.

Spanish teen sensations Las Ketchup are four sisters– (Lola, Lucia, Pilar and Rocio Munoz) who are the daughters of renowned flamenco guitarist Tomate. (Get it? Tomate is "tomato" in Spanish, ergo "ketchup.") Dangerously cute and well versed in delivering high-speed nonsense lyrics, they've clearly been primed for international stardom. "The Ketchup Song" (or "Asereje") became the breakout hit of 2002 everywhere but in the U.S., where it generated some buzz, although not with the fervor of, say, "Macarena." But Las Ketchup may yet survive one-hit-wonder status; little sister Rocio joined the group in 2006, and their quadruple-voiced attack, peppy Andalusian and reggae influences, and sleek lounge vibe on 2006's Un Blodymary sound extremely fresh.

At the tender age of twelve, Faudel fronted the band Les Etoiles du Rai, lovingly covering artists such as Cheb Mami. This eventually led to a solo career and higher profile gigs, which resulted in Faudel getting signed - all while still in his teens. Faudel definitely has the talent, and sounds stunning when performing.

Spain's reigning queen of hip-hop, Mala Rodriguez's low-key rapping and defiant attitude have made her a hero to Latin audiences. She released her first album on Universal in 2002, and her off-hand delivery and filthy funk backing made her an instant success. If you listen closely, you can even hear strains of flamenco-style singing in songs like 2004's "La Nina."

This Italian boy band has set its sights far beyond the borders of linguini's home country. After a splashy 2008 debut in Italy with the album Liberi Da Sempre, brothers and bandmates Luca and Diego Fainello scored two hit singles: "Como Tu Me Vuoi" and "Io e Te." They re-recorded the second hit single in English and dubbed it "Love Show," and soon they were retooling their entire debut album in Spanish for a Latin American release in early 2009.

These boys aren't just in a band together; read their bio and it sounds like they're joined at the hip. Born and raised in the same barrio -- La Laguna -- of the Spanish city Cardiz, the boyhood friends attended the same college, studied together religiously and even listened to the same music as they grew up. So it came as no surprise when their 2003 debut showcasing their tight ensemble singing . But really it was their flamenco-pop mishmash that garnered them award after award in Spain and made them instant stars. To see two fresh-faced young guys singing like they were hardened flamenco veterans -- and then straightening up to drop some pop balladry -- is nothing if not endearing. The duo released their follow-up, Desde Mi Barrio, in 2005.

Soaring synths, lovely and catchy vocals and distinctively pop-inflected basslines merge beautifully over complex Jungle rhythms and percussive keyboard patterns. Vocal lines are so friendly and flowing, there's no need to understand Spanish to feel a part of Astrud's world.

Sunny chart-toppers with a truly international appeal. An African man who toasts like Shaggy and two Danish women team up to make Dance Pop with heavy Spanish influences. Light dance beats anchor these frothy, warm-hearted tunes.
