Souled American Discography on Rhapsody Online

Souled American are a wistful, Chicago-based Alt Country band who could change the No Depression tag to Know Depression. Proving that you can write and perform spatial country songs without having to sound like Will Oldham, Souled American approach their sound with slumberous song tempos and stretched-out, bucolic tones. The soulful singer's painful laments add a fifth dimension to the band's atmosphere, where bits of smacked-out Americana blend with down-tempo folk and even flirt with monotonous, Dub-inspired rhythms. Souled American's more downtrodden songs are peppered with slowly burning blues leads and swampy, sluggish Cajun rhythms that hang like the long ash of a neglected cigarette.
