His third LP, <i>Mista Don't Play: Everythangs Workin</i>, went platinum, even though he was sitting in jail on a robbery charge. In 2002, after being busted with guns in his ride, Project Pat was sentenced to four years in jail. His fourth full-length, <i>Layin' Da Smack Down</i>, was released two months later. After serving three years in prison, Project Pat was released on July 27, 2005.
