Realizing that he himself could pen a catchy ditty, Anderson took on some freelance work writing songs for commercial radio jingles before packing it up and heading to Music City, where he was recognized as a talented songwriter. He wrote "Beer Run" for George Jones and Garth Brooks, who had a hit with it in 2001, allowing Anderson to finally release his debut, <i>Three Chord Country and American Rock & Roll</i>, in 2005.
